Concerns re: ssbood (David)?

Seriously, even though I've used PayPal goods this time...I've used gift often to save a few bucks. But only gift to reputable sellers. Ssblood looks legit with 10+ feedback and been BF member for about 10 years.

This is lesson learned, never gift again.
 
I will f/u w Roanoke police tomorrow for status of their investigation. I actually googled and found his office number. Called on Friday and his secretary said that he was out for lunch. I did not leave a message.

What perplexes me is why a gold member on bf, a president of his company would want to pull such a criminal stunt. Is it possible that ssblood 's account was hacked and all this was done by someone else and not David Doss?
 
I doubt it was hacked into. I would rather not speculate as to why, there can be millions of reasons. Again, let's wait and see what turns up.

I doubt it. In order for that to work, not only would his BladeForums account need to be hacked, but also his e-mail, and his Paypal. Which I suppose isn't too far a stretch these days if someone got his info and was determined enough but that explanation just doesn't add up in my mind.

I keep trying to convince myself that maybe this guy just had some really bad luck last week and will come through.

Either way, I'll also be contacting the Roanoke PD tomorrow. I hope justice is served, even if I don't get my money back.

Sept 17 @ 12:49am I sent him $135 via PP goods for a brown PM2. Tried emailing him today as it hasn't arrived yet. Google said the email address didn't exist. Then I searched on here and found this. I'm not sure why he's been here 10yrs and pulls this now? If he just wasn't replying I might understand that something bad could've happened, but when Google says his email doesn't exist...bad news for us, not him.

EDIT: Just filed a dispute w/ Paypal. I hope everyone who has paid for goods from him and not yet received them is able to resolve this matter.

Wow...yet another victim.

Update: I called Roanoke PD to get a status on my incident report. Found out that the case has been assigned to a detective and it could take up to a week before I would hear from him. I provided the officer with DD's work address and work number. The officer indicated that "many" calls have come re: this individual.

I've also contacted PP to escalate the status from "Dispute" to "Claim".
 
His profile says he lives in Roanoke VA and is a heavy truck technician. I live just a few minutes outside Roanoke and would have no problems in paying him a visit. I'm also good friends with a local Roanoke City Sheriff's Deputy...

If someone wants me to do a little leg work for them, PM me with all the info on him you have (and the name of the Roanoke City PD contact). I'd be glad to help out if I can.

Hey man I realize your just trying to help and your a long time, high post count, probabily well respected member here. Plus you say you are good friends with a local deputy but having been in a few similar situations myself I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend you not do that or attempt to contact him any other method especially considering (1) the local PD is already investigating and have "several cases" which i would take to mean theres actually enogh to maybe do something against him (2) your not directly involved.

If something were to go down and it turn into a hard contact you, a random person, would be liable and possible even criminally prosecuted for being the initiator even tho all you were doing was to try and help a bunch of wronged people out.

I'm not at all trying to say you offering help is wrong, or trying to attack you in anyway, but offering to insert yourself into an already bad situation is just not a good idea.

I appreciate your willingness to help out SPXTrader, but I'll have to agree with Cereal_killer on this one. I don't think dragging more individuals into this situation will really improve the outcome at this point.

Granted, if I suddenly found myself in VA, I wouldn't hesitate to track this guy down. But I don't want to put anyone else in that position.
 
UPDATE: I've come to a roadblock with the police report. The investigating officer called and indicated that I would need more specific information about David Doss that ties him to Roanoke (e.g. address, telephone #). The info I have on him is a result of a google search. This is not good enough.

Has anyone made contact with him by phone? Has anyone shipped knives to ssblood and have a viable address?

A Google search for 'David Doss Roanoke VA' turns up the webpage 'www.mylife.com/ssblood' it shows as a David Doss in Roanoke VA age 26. Only thing is to see his other info you have to be a member which costs $84/yr or $16/mo. Perhaps $16 would be worth it if you get good info?

I'm sorry to hear that he is or was sick, but that is simply not an excuse for his actions. Especially in a community like this where generosity and good natured actions can be found at every turn. Part of being a community is helping one another out. There have been some examples ranging from offering positive thoughts/prayers when some are in need, to unhindered financial help to others that are in serious need. This ain't the way to go about it.
 
Something else that comes to mind here, in pursuit of "justice" and having David make reparations, there should be no intent on the part of anyone here to perform any acts that are deemed illegal. We (Bladeforums) don't condone in any way being a vigilante, approaching this person and "startin' something". Yes, I understand people are upset, but clearer heads prevail. Street addresses that include home and work should be treated with confidentiality regardless in this case. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on this, in case anyone was just thinking about a "what if" scenario. Postal inspectors and police departments are there for a reason.
