Idiots on eBay - Classiccutleryusa

What a total jerk. Ironic that a knife dealer is insulting our intelligence while bashing one of the biggest knife forums around.
(Oh crap I used an emote! I must be an idiot!) :p

Hopefully he'll have plenty more free time on his hands in the near future in which he can hike in the White Mountains. ;) Maybe he can do a report on how well Frodo's sword from Lord of the Rings handles the firewood in the evening.

What amazes me (and I lack the details to know if it applies to this eBay sale) is how many eBay sellers think they can BOTH sell by description AND take the position that "all sales are final" when the goods don't meet the description. It's one or the other; not both. You can't for example say, "no cracks in scales" AND evoke "all sales final" when the knife has cracked scales.

But they try.

(Pay for everything via credit card!)

Classic Cutlery, make a note to never purchase anything from this company.

Note taken... And I'll be sure to pass this info on! I read those emails carefully.

Dave@ClassicCutlery, you should very very ashamed. :thumbdn: You crossed a line... Actually you crossed several lines, and I hope that you and your company suffer tremendously for it. Like I said, I'll be sure to let everyone that I know to avoid you & Classic Cutlery... Plenty of knife dealers out there much more worthy than you.

We have tens of thousands of knives here, and we simply don't have the time to open individual boxes. All that matters is the stock number. If we sold a Kershaw 1800 (we did), and the box reads 1800 (it did), than that's all that matters. We get our specs directly from the manufacturer's catalogs and our factory reps. The information we used in this listing was provided to us in January, and we have since sold exactly 22 of this model, so if Kershaw is still shipping old versions that would be an issue to take up with Kershaw, not with us. Again, with the volume we ship (eBay is not our only sales venue), the notion of opening every box for inspection is preposterous, but thanks for telling us how to operate our business that has been running successfully for more than twice as long as eBay has existed.

BTW... I see that you have finally offered SPXTrader a refund... WHAT about the OTHER 21 people that you sold the wrong Kershaw 1800 knife to??? Will you be reaching out to & offering them a refund as well????? Seems to be the right thing to do, don't you think? Oh, I almost forgot... Enjoy that investigation for mail fraud. Seems that you deserve it regardless of the offered refund.

...As for emoticons, well translate this...:rolleyes: :thumbdn::thumbdn::thumbdn::thumbdn::thumbdn: :rolleyes:

I didn't read EVERY post in this thread, but I was just browsing ebay and noticed that Classiccutlery has three pictures of a standard plain edge tanto Leek, model 1660T on a listing with the title "Kershaw Random Leek tanto linerlock plain KS1660T". First off, it's a frame lock, and secondly, he's showing pics of the less expensive leek while advertising it as the S30V bladed Random. This guy really is a piece of work, eh?

Holy sh*t! I cant even believe what I'm reading. The audacity of this guy is absolutely staggering.

Anyone else notice the irony of lecturing people about "proper use of the language" while defending the use of his made up word? This guy is priceless.

Oh, and google search of "classiccutlery" brings this thread up in 3rd place. L-O-L

I'm tempted to buy a knife so I could file a complaint :)

This might be helpful should toher people be scammed, NH complaint form:

I would also think Kershaw would send him a letter, I imagine they don't want customers buying their knives ripped off.

I emailed Dave Lewis to let him know his ebay listing was misleading and not really fair to un-experienced buyers who may not know the difference between a standard leek and the more costly Random leek, and he basically told me to butt out, so I had to find more concrete evidence to send to him. Hopefully this works:

"Sorry to harp on this Dave, but no, the standard tanto blade Kershaw Leek, which was just a sprint run of a few hundred, I believe, is not also know as the "Random" Only the knife with S30V blade steel, partially serrated edge, and the coated handle can be called a Random. So...yes you're listing could definitely be misinterpreted by someone who doesn't know too much about knives. Here is a press release about the Random from Kershaw and I'd like you to show me where the knife in your listing has anything to do with the knife in the article.
http://www.knifeforums.com/forums/printpost.php?tid/795848/

Also, the ID sticker on the Kershaw factory box of a Random Leek says Random right on it in plain sight. Can you find the word Random anywhere on the box of the standard, plain edge, tanto leek in your listing? Quit trying to fool people into thinking they're buying a higher quality knife.

PLEASE, it's just not right."

What do you guys think, he'll totally listen this time, right??;)

His manager, who has a lower tollerance of a-holes than Dave does, will probably ban you from their store. That'll show you. :)

I believe he's the owner along with his wife. I'd forget wasting time trying to reason with him, go straight to authorities on fraud.

Dave, thanks for the link to the NH AG's office. I will contact them tomorrow.

Ya know, it's not a good thing to pi$$ off Mother Nature, or me!

jonnymac, go ahead and buy one, then pitch a fit. If enough of this happens in a short time frame, I do believe eBay's Square Trade folks would be down on him in a heartbeat.

Also, since I'm not a member of any other knife forums, if any of you guys that are want to post a link to this thread, that's great...the more that know of his rip-off tactics, the better we will all be.

Thanks again to everyone that has been supportive towards me. I'm obiously not the first to get ripped off and then cussed. You guys here at BF are the best!

Classiccutleryusa has got to be the WORST dealer I have ever dealt with. I buy LOTR collectibles, I have almost the entire collection of UC swords. I recently purchased a mini sword from them, it came, with no certificate, it was a factory second (they claimed it wasn't) THEN! They called ME names. Dave is the worst human being I have ever encountered. He knows nothing about customer service, and I feel bad for everyone and anyone that has to deal with him. I honestly hope his business fails and he goes bankrupt.

Listen to this response I got in an email from Dave: I told him that all of this was ridiculous (They didn't accept my payment, even though my address and account IS indeed confirmed) "How is it ridiculous? We never accept any payment that PayPal red-flages "ineligible", and yours had red flags all over it. Sure, money is money if it's actually MONEY, but according to PayPal anything with an Unconfirmed shipping address might as well be counterfeit for all the protection they give it.
We can argue about this all day, but the bottom line is this:
You purchased an item where the payment policies are clearly posted, and then sent a payment we never accept. We ship 500+ orders weekly during most of the yer, and 1400+ weekly since Thanksgiving. We have never once accepted an Unconfirmed address payment, or shipped anything to an address that did not EXACTLY match the billing address of the credit card, and we've been in this gig for more than twice as long as eBay or PayPal have EXISTED.
So...
You can continue to be rude about it, or you can follow the rules like everyone else. It really doesn't matter to us. We'll either get paid properly and complete the transaction, or we'll wait the requisite 7 days to file an Unpaid Item claim against your eBay account to recover our eBay fees, as we do with all deadbeat bidders. It's really that simple.
eBay is not a playground where you can cost honest merchants a pile of fees at whim and then just walk away from it just because you didn't read and follow the rules." I responded with alot of WTFs and I won't even be shopping with you again and I got "Typical irresponsible WalMart shopper. Thanks for wasting our time."

Asshat. I hate them with so much fury.. >_>

Agreed...contact the AG. Then the USPS, if he used US Mail to ship...that's mail fraud. And if you bought this thru he11bay, contact them, send them all your email exchanged and demand they remove him for fraud.

If all that fails, I know where he lives...hehehehe!

I bought two knives from this vendor.

When the first "new" knife arrived without it's box, I emailed and asked about the absence of the box. He replied that he had been in the busienss longer than dirt has existed, that the zip case he sent was obviously better than the box, wazza matter me, he was much beloved by customers, etc. etc. Silly me to think a "new" production knife should arrive in its box.

So the second time, I knew no box would accompany the knife, but it was to be a user. NBD. It arrived with the point sticking 1/2" out of the box (1.5" out of the zipper case [Self-healing zippers actually do!]. Makes for interesting experiences for the USPS carriers of the world. I pointed out the problem in an email. I was ignored.

Life is too short . . . . .

ED: He DID reply - today. The USPS must have dropped the parcel very hard because they have been shipping knives that way (without original box; blade sleeve from manufacturer; wrapped in paper) since 1983 with no problems.
