Larry Harley- Lonesome Pine Knives

I have known Larry for a LONG time since the early 90s, hunted with him at Jay Dorsey's Lodge, watched him make knives, etc. He had a sterling reputation in the old days...
Couple of years ago, he asked me if I was interested in an L6 Battle Bowie. I said sure, then he asked for full payment up front, promising a delivery time of 2 months. Alarm bells went off, as he had NEVER asked for payment up front before. I asked him the reason, he said he needed money for medical bills. In 20+ yrs of collecting, i have seen this before with other makers, so of course, I didnt send payment up front.
Larry owes 2 long time collectors I know also, he has given them countless reasons for their undelivered knives.
I see that hes on facebook nearly everyday, would that be the best way to contact him? Really sad to see Larry go this route, I sincerely hope everyone gets the knives owed to them. Larry is one of the fastest makers Ive seen, if he just pulls his boots up and concentrates, Im pretty sure he can get the knives that are owed out to their rightful owners.

Soon the best way to contact Larry willl be through his State's Department of Corrections............

And they do not have facebook!!!

Has he always been nonresponsive to inquiries about knives owed?

After 2-3 years of not returning calls and emails to people I highly doubt he has any plans on finishing knives owed. Maybe he is cranking out new knives to new customers, maybe not, either way he's a crook at best.

If he is on facebook every day maybe someone should start asking him there to check this thread.

If Bubba is such a good friend maybe he should shoot him an email or make a phone call and tell him that his name is being tarnished, and he should look iinto correcting any misconceptions.

Now things are truly coming to light!
I know I can't condemn EVERYBODY in the knife world, but from looking at the G, B&G and Hall of shame here, I am simply amazed at the crooks in the business.
I've dealt with pro's in the 1911 and holstermaking businesses as far away as England and not had a single problem in decades. In fact, just the opposite. Custom makers like Milt Sparks Holsters and gunsmiths John Harrison and Dave Berryhill are just a couple that stand out. I've had some send me product before receiving payment.
Thanks to all here that endeavor to get the word out, especially the folks that keep this forum going.

Still no word from Bubba on this? He must still be kicking Larry's butt.

Got my reply from Larry, have a combat bowir on order for 3 to 4 months, no money up front. Either he has cleaned up his act or he will just wait 3-4 months, then ask for my money and screw me.

Maybe when he says it is done I should just give him the name of the people on here who have been waiting for replacements and ask that he just send it to one of them instead... :)

I don't have the words.

Do you honestly believe a knife is being made with your name on it???

Larry is a man of his word, and that word is crook
Larry is a man of integrity, before he became a crook
Larry was an honest man, before he became a dishonest man
Larry has lots of friends, they are either co-conspirators or enablers
Larry does great work, so he will have no problem punching out license plates.
Larry did the world of knives a great disservice, and he does not give a crap.
Yup, Larry is a crook.............................

Maybe Bubba got some sense and begged off.
The big "C" sure ain't the common cold and I know it must be rough. We have an older woman here at work who just won the "Spirit of the year" award. I've watched her slug down her meds and get to work. No doubt she is a tough nut. Larry? You listening? Get on it, big guy.
We all check out. I hate the idea that Mr. Harley will leave with this situation as his legacy. Yep, I'm nuts. I've read about the man for years, the things he's done for others. Seems a shame to tarnish all that.
C'mon Larry, I know you have it in you to make this right.

Well, No Christmas package from Larry Harley.
Anyone seen his knives coming up for sale?

Geez this thread hurts. I've known Harley for years and years, as a client, and an online email group years ago. There is really no excuse, I agree.

What happens when you call his number? What number do you have?

Coop

Don't know. I haven't tried contacting him in some time. He has my info., should he decide to make things right.

When I do talk to Larry I wont bother with posting the results of the conversation since people have trashed me for offering to help. In the end you guys attitude reflects poorly on BladeForums and keeps normal people from bothering with hanging around or getting involved to resolve issues; good luck with it.

you crack me up bubba!!! You offered to help, where, when????

you offered to drop a dime when you got a chance, nothing more.

helping out those screwed over by your pal would have included a personal visit by you, a sit down face to face with Larry and a smack or two to his head to get his brain working and do the right thing.

If this is how you "help" it does not surprise me that you have accomplished nothing and Larry has done nothing.............................

If "normal people" are guys like you and Larry the Thief then Bladeforums is better off without you and your pal.
