My experience with Liu Kang

Seems he is tight with the Busse Company....I wonder if they are aware of his lack of ethics and poor business practices....???

I see you mentioned that email I sent ya a while back. I didnt tell you how to sell knives but instead told you what it would take to make right with the community. If you want, post it and your response, you brought it up. If you want me to jus give me the go cuz I still have it.

Speaking from an insurance point of view....

When it comes to individuals wanting to self-insure, this usually requires a large bond or a cash deposit to a state or government entity. Some companies can self-insure their auto or workman’s compensation.

For the sake of this "knife community", I implore the powers that be here to restrict LK to the Dealer only section.

Feel free to ban him entirely as he has caused more disruption to this site than anyone else I can recall and there were some real pieces of work that walked the plank here in the past. He lied about being a dealer. That should be enough to send him on his way. But don't stop there, send his shill accounts with him.

What was once a great place to hang out online has been polluted by Liu Kang. This feeling is felt by many here.

Do the right thing and fix this once and for all.

If anything, revoke his Dealer status for 3 months and allow him to participate in the community as most here do. That is, after all, why he is here right?

I had the same thought about all the Busse dealers, but Jerry has made it clear that dealers are allowed in their for sale section. His subforum, his rules.

I think people here are mature enough to decide who they want to buy from. No need to artificially limit LK.

The feedback threads are here for a reason and I find LK's responses particularly enlightening. He certainly doesn't help his standing.

Why have the Mods ignored this issue for so long?
Can we open a collective thread somewhere to
make our voices heard on this specific trampling
of forum rules, and peoples decency?

So I will ask the Mods once more: Why can he sell unrestricted
as a dealer in the non dealer sections? How much outcry does it
take to remove an individual deemed unscrupulous by a great majority
of this forum community?

For Your Information:

Requests for Bladeforums policy or changes belong in the Tech Support forum. Moderators do not read individual threads looking for requests like this. Moderators do not necessarily have authority to do what you might like us to.

You can shear a sheep many times, but you can only skin it once.

LK's practices and prices might be giving him a hefty profit margin now and in the past, but if he keeps up the way he has been in this thread and others like it, he'll soon find that customer base, both current and potential, will dwindle. Just look at how many people in this thread have said something like "after reading this I will never do business with LK".

I've worked for 2 pizza companies. The first one's business philosophy was to get as much money from the customer as possible. Don't give them discounts unless they ask. Resist giving them anything free if a mistake is made. The second one's philosophy is to give the customer the best deal possible. Real money isn't made from a single sale, but repeat sales. If something goes wrong, do whatever it takes to make them happy, so they remain customers. Guess which company is doing better and has a higher customer service rating? Locally and nationally.

LK might be making a killing in the short term, but he's killing himself for any long term. Continued sales are based largely on word-of-mouth, and on the internet, word-of-mouth is quick and easy. Bad word-of-mouth even more so. Dan, you should have realized long ago that $11 is a small amount compared to what you've lost now. Even with your warped sense of business ethics, you should at least now understand that this whole "petty" affair over $11 has likely cost you hundreds, if not thousands of dollars in lost potential sales. And it's nobody's fault but your own.

Thanks for that, I just updated that particular thread and took the paypal out. I don't take paypal here anymore.

[/QUOTE]Slick move, besides charging the seller a few dollars they protect the buyer and now report sales to the IRS.

I'll try to answer the best I can.

We are NOT ignoring this. We are following the issue as closely as we possibly can.

However, at this time, LK has the permission of the site owner, at Jerry Busse's request, to sell his crap in the Busse for sale forum.

There are several of us moderators that would like to do all you ask; restrict him to the Dealer section, and start dinging him for his unethical business practices. We can't. Not right now, anyway.

With that being said, he is on a short leash.

My suggestion is for one of you who have actually been burned by him, go to Service and Support, and start a complaint thread so Spark sees it. Stick to the facts. Then, all of you who have a legitimate complaint against LK post your experience as well. Again, stick to the facts. Don't bring emotion into it, and leave out the hyberbole.

Perhaps if there is enough legitimate complaints, Spark will take action.

Well if a fellow friend/acquaintance had not received an infraction recently and I had not looked into their posts to see what for, I would not have found out about this dealer and their practices. To that I have to reply with this,
(apologies for only parts of quotes or this would be a long read within a long read)

The man asked for insurance and insurance was not supplied. End of story. Everything else is irrelevant in the conversation.

Good call. The way this was handled is what led me to this,

While LK dances around the problem with misplaced sarcasm he is alienating all his potential customers, at least on this forum. When I see LK's threads I just move on now, I used to browse through them but that is no longer the case, I can't imagine how rare a knife would have to be for me to want to purchase anything from the guy.

Like me.

Although I have never purchased a knife from him if LK has a knife I want for a price I am willing to pay I will probably buy it.

You get what you pay for. Buyer beware. At least you read this and if something does happen, shame on you. I would rather error on the side of caution and miss a deal (Which from the pricings it doesn't appear there is any sort of deal. Just insane markups)

I'm grateful to all those who've posted regarding LK's practices. Saved me a lot of time, money and grief.

Solid copy on that.

Minus one customer for Liu Kang. Thanks BF community for being more thorough than I will ever be.

When I used PP for my transaction with Liu Kang, the account wasn't in his name, so he probably couldn't be reported to the IRS anyway.

His name isn't Liu Kang. That's a Mortal Kombat character. His real name is Dan Huang.

LK... Looks like if you continue to do business the way youve been it might turn out to be the end of it. I would take a step back and really listen to what
all these people have to say. Are they being unreasonable? Is everyone of these people just jealous and have a personal vendetta against you?
I dont think so. I think a tipping point has been reached and its only going to get worse. This is a real grassroots effort on the BF if I've ever seen one.
Trust me, you dont want to have all these crazy Knife-wielding nuts against you.

liu kang makes sales not on feedback (his is great) or reputation (his is good), or even price (his are high). he makes sales on superior inventory and customer service. i once wanted one of his busse offerings and he sent me a dozen photos of the knife from different angles. great service. he wouldn't really negotiate price and i eventually got a similar (though not my perfect) knife for a few hundred less. but when it comes to Busses, which are difficult to get, you won't find a seller with more inventory on the internet. he takes a lot of risk owning so many Busses and this large inventory is rewarded by buyers who want a particular knife in a marketplace where such knives are often difficult if not impossible to come by. pay liu kang a bit of a mark up and you can forgo searching months for that perfect Busse. So he has a place as a seller here, and one dispute over $10 and not the quality of the product should not be considered a real blemish on his record.

I'm pretty sure he makes his sales from impulse buyers

His prices are definitely not hard to beat

Hard to get because he bought most of the available highly desired ones to flip. I recall him going on a Meaner Street buying spree one week.
Now they are very hard to find unless you buy from him and pay his markup, 5% paypal fee, insurance (which he doesn't seem to buy and pockets the cash which with his sales could be hundreds of dollars in his pocket each week).

That's not what the BF exchange is for. It's a community exchange.
