Bad Survive! Deserves A Permanent Post In The Hall Of Shame

Then he sent my a link to NSM and said that I could contact Bob S. myself so that they could get quality material to work with so that my knife could be manufactured and delivered.

Good grief.

"I have garbage steel, I can't make you knife. Maybe you get better steel, eh? Go, get good steel and I make you knife."

The nerve that guy has to tell a customer to resolve material constraints that are of said guy's own making. Shameful.

Received a refund for my GSO 5.1 in magnacut order dating back to end of december 2022. The info from S!k was only that they had issued the refund. Sort of giving the impression that they had done the right thing. Keep in mind I had contacted them multiple times about this.

However when contacting my bank and asking for info regaring the credit card complaint I had issued toward S!k they told me that the refund had been initiated by request from the bank.

So if you have issues with your refund try going through your bank.
I tried to get refunded on my November 2021 5.1 but paid through PayPal and they didn’t help w it being over 180 days.

They’re only being compliant to the extent the card network/merchant processing is forcing their hand to keep the CC funds flowing in

Latest survive video out is titled: can I trust my knife? lol, maybe if you ever get one!
He also mentions warranties. First, you'd need a knife to warranty. Secondly, you'd have to be able to communicate with them to get said warranty work completed. Lastly, they probably don't have the funds to ship it back.

Last warranty claim experience posted on BF's... took 3 years to resolve, SK! wanted to keep the knife for further testing

Member received a completely different knife as a replacement.

From a reputable maker?

Months ago, S!K claimed that their new hire would respond to all email in a timely manner. Based on posts on FB, that is absolutely not happening.
Yeah but in a comment on YouTube he said the new hire was only in the shop three days a week.

My reaction was like so he can respond to emails from his house.

I have not seen a single post about a customer actually getting S!K to issue a refund. There are A LOT of posts from customers that cannot get any response from S!K about a refund. There are a few post where S!K promised a refund but never actually issues it. The only customers that i have seen be successful in getting a refund went through their bank.

S!K has a private "fan" page. There are multiple posts every week from customers that are waiting for knives and cannot get a response from S!K. Inevitably, these posts are deleted and (apparently) the posters are removed from the group. YouTube comments are heavily censored. Guy is working hard to create a narrative on YouTube...
FWIW: I received a refund through my credit card company in December. After reading posts here about requests for refunds going unacknowledged, I decided to forego contacting Survive and went to my credit card company. They credited my account and I checked later on my account at Survive and it shows them issuing a refund.

Given the number of refunds PayPal must have on record somewhere the Survive are a dodgy operator.

If I recall correctly (from reading old threads) paypal even froze their money (according to Guy at least).

Perhaps it's worth asking them why they continue to provide a service to Survive?

I read through most of this thread over the last few weeks. I "pre-ordered" a 5.1 and an 8 in February 2020. I was definitely rooked with their talk of turning things around and getting back on track. Then of course Covid and parts delays and Millit and moving and people dying. I'm out the 279 for the 5.1 and I did receive the 8 last year. Which of course got my hopes up again. But with all these youtube testimonials about how poorly the steel was doing and buying new machines to complete preorders I went looking for more info. I suppose I'm another sucker in their long line of promises not kept. I did send an email last week and Tyler promises that I'll get my knife now that they have the steel situation all sorted out. Which didn't really tell me anything. Is it in the shop waiting to be assembled, or needs an edge, or it's just in the big pile of blanks to be evaluated eventually? I'll let you know if I receive a reply, but I'm not holding out hope. I assume I am out of luck with paypal for a partial refund. What an unpleasant experience all around.

Demand a refund immediately. Tell them you'll contact your cc and then the AG in PA. Let them know that you know about ther 10 year history of not delivering. Post on their socials and youtube. Post on other forums, platforms. Don't give in, that is what these con-artist thrive on. First they blow smoke about a fantastic product/value, then they lie saying your order is almost done, then they ignore hoping you'll go away and take the loss. Con-artist 101. They only get away with it if we let them.

Would who actually makes knives please comment on the following video?

Guy shows a batch of EDC 4’s that just came back from heat treating. He then puts them on a flat plate to show how perfectly flat they are.

However, the blades do not have a bevel ground on them yet.

Aren’t bevels usually ground before they go to heat treat, then after heat treat finish off with just a small amount of grinding?

As a hobby knife maker, I can say that some people grind pre heat and others grind post heat treat. I grind post heat treat as it tends to prevent warping, as the entire blade is still the same thickness.

Just to be clear, this was something you got by working with your bank after S!K would not issue the refund. As far as I can tell, S!K is NOT issuing any refunds willingly at this time.
Correct. Credit Card dispute of the charge after 2 refund requests with S!K.
