tundratrader-where are my knives?

This is just bad all the way around.
No one can say for sure that is was sent as the receipt was lost,no one can say that wasn't delivered as there is no way to track it.
Not saying either person is out to take the other but this could set up a situation for either the buyer or seller to try and take the other.

TT have you asked the Postmaster for help? Given that Homer,AK is a small town it seems that he could search his records for the customs form if given an approximate date. It would seem that a small town Postmaster would bend over backward to help a firefighter in good standing. I would be trying to make him my best friend given the circumstances.

Regardless of T.T. profession, no postal receipt (proof of shipment) = 100% refund. I'm in law enforcement myself and for something to have happened or taken place requires proof by any court. If there is no proof then it didn't happen in the court's eyes.

Correct vwb, the "burden of proof" lies on TT. I'm not passing judgment on either party, but no shipping proof = 100% refund. Considering there is now a second party, with a transaction problem....to save face & reputation, refund is due immediately.

Hard times can effect anyone, and your career choice (firefighter) wouldn't change the level of integrity.

Yup I fail to see how this transaction is not researchable.

How many times has your post office shipped to russia since the instance in this thread?
How did you pay for it? I can get very solid shipping data, from my banking transaction history when I pay with my ATM card. Take that the the PO and get the rest of the paperwork that ties to the number.

Simply doing a little leg work would put the whole thing to bed for alot of folks.

Agree i dont know why some one with so many transactions and time on this forum would simply not provide proof of sending the package, is driving down to the post office that hard? Or is there really nothing to recive there? Roman states it was 5 months ago when he paid for the hinderer, almost half a year i dont see how anyone could side with tundra on this.

The knife wasn't received by the buyer and the seller has no proof of shipping it.

It's an unfortunate set of circumstances, but the solution seems pretty straight forward and obvious to me.

Refund the money.

Just called one in Homer, if it was 5 or 6 months ago then they said they have no sort of records. 30 days, yes, 6 months, no. Asked if that applies to all the branches, the USPS worker said yes.

ooitzoo
That topic in which I had bought a knife.
However, the pad can be changed to another color (and sell a lot of times)

Glad he's not a fire fighter/emt in my area... Dude seems to think that he gets a free pass because of the work he does.

I can only see one option no shipping to non members oversea's....... seems like a lot of non member's have a response here in this thread!!!! tundratrader has been on here for awhile and i can't see him being an ass over this.. but truth be told we all should save our shipping receipts. for atleast till the buyer get's his merch......hope this works out... I for one had no problem shipping anywhere but this thread has changed my opinion of this. and i will not sell to a non member unless we have dealt in the past!!!!!

He gets his XM's for less than 1/2 price though. I don't see why he doesn't buy one for kromanm - excuse me but I think he's offerred to do that. I hope that happens.

I hate to diss a pal, but Zach got in a catch-22 and I deleted all of my negative comments. Why? Because it could of happened to many of us. God forbid that I don't keep a perfect record and get popped like this. I just happen to take the advice of an old forum buddy - "it's a lot cheaper to spend a couple of $$ on insurance & confirmation, than try to self-insure and possibly lose all of the sale money and your knife."

I refuse after sleeping on it last night, to believe that he's a crook or anything else but a guy that needed some quick cash and then didn't cover his arse with paperwork. Not an excuse, but enough to help me get my mind around all of this.

5260 views and 112 responses, and counting.... and still Tundratrader is not seeing what he needs to do? WOW.

Tundratrader you have quite an audience.

The seller has a responsibility to deliver shipping information to the buyer, and to do all they are humanly capable of doing to assist the buyer.

Until any POSITIVE action on your part happens, I would be interested to know what you chosen earthworking tool of choice is, and an update on how the hole you are digging for yourself is coming on.

I agree, he gets no pass from me. He needs to refund now, or hang out in jail for mail fraud.

The only reason I asked about him being a firefighter is to buy the knife at firefighter pricing.

I have been in constant contact with the buyer through this entire ordeal. I have been to the post office to try and track the package through the customs number I provided to Roman. The parts that are being left out by the buyer is that I have tried doing all of these things. The post office said they have no control over Russian customs to track a package. I was told months ago by the USPS that they had no way of trying to find this package. I was told by PayPal after this that any package over 250 needs signature confirmation. The USPS then told me they have no way of assuring that anything is actually signed for. I am more than willing to provide Roman a replacement. I have offered this to him before. Being firefighters is irrelevant to this topic. When the knife was sold and shipped I did not know that roman was a firefighter or I would have told him he could buy from Hinderer direct. I sold to the first buyer. It's not like I would have had to wait long for another buyer to come along. Roman chose the method of shipping. If I had shipped it express mail or registered mail it would have still only had a small amount of insurance because of the value. USPS would not have cared because they have no control over a package once it leaves the states. After this I will not ship a package without full value declared to customs with insurance and return receipt or registered mail. This is the reason I started my international shipping woes thread. I have admitted several times in this thread that I cannot find the receipt. I sent roman the customs number off the receipt after I mailed it. You do not get a copy of the customs form and the only place you get the number is off of the receipt. I should have made sure I saved the receipt but I didnt. I know that was a mistake. I am more than willing to make this right. If I still
had the receipt it would not change the fact that the knife is untraceable, it had a low declared value and no insurance. I would hope that my track record would speak for itself. I am not the first person on this forum to send a knife just as I did. Many sellers here have stated in sales threads that they are not responsible for international items once they are shipped. In my case at this point I cannot prove that I shipped the item. I am curious now if I had told Roman that I would only ship the knife at full declared value through express mail with insurance if he would have still taken the knife. I did what a buyer asked and I am now being penalized. All items I have shipped in the US before and after this have had dc and insurance. I have sold other items internationally before and after this and asked the buyers repeatedly if they really wanted the knife or flashlight under valued without insurance. I have been given the answer of yes. They are used to it and are willing to take the risks. This is not always the case but often is. I have sent Busse, Chris Reeve and Hinderer knives like this and I am quite sure others here have as well.

I am blown away that people here think I should be in jail over this. Roman has also now taken this to another forum. I have been a paying member of this community for quite
some time. That usually says something. Why are people not even considering the possibility that this knife was sent, stolen by customs or in the hands of the buyer? In previous emails the buyer even stated that it was his fault for the way it was shipped.

If you provided a customs # that should be proof of mailing as it is scanned in by the USPS and any I have tried could be tracked til they left the US.Last knife I sent to Canada I could track until it left the US in Miami.
This is the info from a customs tag I mailed today.

Also just tried some older ones I had but they are no longer in the system.

This is a knife going to Canada that is still in the system,I know it was delivered but see how the info stops when it leaves the US.Canada Post never showed the number at all in their system.

From what I have been told at my local PO the seller has no control of what happens with the package once it leaves the US.
I am wondering if the USPS even offers insured shipping to Russia.I know that they do not offer it to many countries.
